It’s LAGFF time!!! The 2nd Los Angeles Greek Film Festival is proud to announce its second annual run scheduled for June 25-29, 2008.

The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (LAGFF) is a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting Greek cinema, bridging the gap between Greek filmmakers and Hollywood and highlighting Greek contributions to the American film industry.

The Festival will take place at the Linwood Dunn Theater and the Egyptian Theater, both in Hollywood. LAGFF will kick off with an Opening Night Gala after a screening of Zorba the Greek, the first run of this much loved film in Los Angeles in many years. Over the course of five days it will showcase a combination of features, shorts and documentaries from and about Greece. Filmmakers will be invited to present their films in person and participate in discussions with the audiences. On Saturday, June 28th we will be hosting a panel for invited writers on how to adapt classic Greek myths into screenplays. The Festival will conclude with a Closing Night Gala announcing the winners of the Orpheus Awards for the best film, documentary, and short shown at the Festival.

Furthermore, this year the Festival will be hosting a Tribute ceremony celebrating the work of the late director John Cassavetes at the Linwood Dunn Theater on Friday, June 27. Cassavetes former wife and world-renowned actress Gena Rowlands will receive the Tribute on his behalf.

Among Greek based sponsors and supporters of the Festival the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Greek Film Center, Wonderful Greece, and Bank of Cyprus. Other sponsors include so far Imperial Media, Daphne’s Restaurants, Metaxa and many individual sponsors.
